Wande Coal Leaves Mavin Records

Interesting news reaching me is at Wande Coal, aka Black Diamond, has stopped working with Mavin Records although he still preserves DJ Spinall as his official DJ.

The source disclosed that Wande Coal was never even officially signed to Mavin Records but was only working hand-in-hand with the Don Jazzy led record label.

This relationship however is said to have been ended and Wande Coal has fully-floated his record label Black Diamond Entertainment.

This development was confirmed by his latest single Kilaju which dropped yesterday; Don Jazzy never said a word about the song like he does normally with new jams from his Mavin camp.

Wande Coal was made to do all the online promotion himself with no support from the entire Mavin Records gang including their online PRs.

The source also says that the reason Wande did not sign with Mavin when the record label launched was that he strongly believes Mavin Records cannot move his career to the next level and disagreement over sharing of monies with Wande not willing to shift ground on 10% with Mavin asking for 20%.

However, Wande Coal is also still working with his manager, Nana.

On a related note, Wande Coal has never mentioned the word Mavin on any track he has been on.

Policemen attached to the Badagry Police Division, Lagos State, and some hoodlums have been accused of killing a 25-year-old undergraduate of Delta State University, Ifechukwude Nwainokpor, and his friend, identified simply as Kazeem. An eight-minute video clip of the gruesome killing, which was made available to PUNCH Metro, showed the two victims handcuffed together. They were covered in their own blood and beaten to death with sticks. Tyres were also put round   their necks.

 An irate mob could be seen in the video, shouting, “die, die, burn them, burn them.” At some points in the video, a policeman was seen interviewing the boys. He asked who sent them (victims) to rob the area, an accusation they denied. One of the hoodlums, holding a sharp object attempted to cut off the private part of one of the victims. Nwainokpor could be seen pleading with the hoodlums and policemen to spare his life, saying he could identify himself if given a chance. His plea, however, fell on deaf ears.

Our correspondent, who visited the family of Nwainokpor  on Tuesday, learnt that the lynching took place around 3pm on July 21, 2013 in Ajara area of Badagry, a community not far from Nwainokpor’s family home. His father, Samuel, told PUNCH Metro that his son was arrested while passing through a street in the area  but a misunderstanding later ensued and the hoodlums pounced on  him  and Kazeem. He added that  Nwainokpor, who was nicknamed Ify, was a final year student of Geology and Mining.

He said, “On that particular day, I was in Ghana when I received a telephone call  that I should come immediately. My wife was in Delta State taking care of her   mother. “When I arrived two days later, my relatives and the caretaker of my house  told me that my son was killed in the Ajara area along with his friend. I was devastated. “I got my son a  temporary job with a Customs licensed  agent since their lecturers were on strike.  He worked everyday except on Sundays when he visited his  friends. On that day, he went to see Kazeem and they were strolling around Ajara.”

Samuel said because there had been a robbery in Ajara four days earlier, some of the residents were on the lookout for strange faces. He added that when the youth  saw two unknown young men, they  accosted them and an argument ensued. He said the youth  called the head of the vigilante group   in the area, one Asiribo. He said, “Asiribo came to the scene with a locally-made pistol and handcuffs. He handcuffed my son and his friend  before asking them questions. 

“Later, it was decided that the boys be taken to the Baale, Agano Oniyon of Agamade Ajara. But as they were going, Asiribo, while trying to return his gun into its  pouch, mistakenly shot himself in the stomach and died.” Samuel said Asiribo’s death infuriated the youth, who  blamed the boys for  his  death. “The mob picked up sticks  and beat them to death. Policemen were there,”   he  said. Holding back tears, the retired immigration officer   added  that the police treated the matter as a robbery case. Beating  his chest,  Samuel said there was no way his son would have been involved in  armed robbery. 

He said, “I have been living in Badagry since 1982. I have  only two children and Ifechukwude  is the  first. Ironically, he was born in that same area where he was killed.

“I have lived in this area without any trouble and  the residents  can tell you that my sons are good  boys.” Nwainokpor’s boss, Aloysius Onyenibedi, described him as an honest and hardworking person. “I trusted him to the extent that I used to keep a lot of money with him. He was good to my children and was honest,” he said.

The Nwainokpor family berated the Divisional Police Officer, Badagry Police Station,  Dankoli Mohammed, for the manner he treated the case. Samuel said when he approached the DPO, he was told that his son was killed at midnight for armed robbery. He said, “When the policemen came to take the corpses, guns were planted on them. Policemen at the station told the DPO that they were robbers. Their corpses were taken along with that Asiribo to Badagry General Hospital’s mortuary.

“The following morning, the DPO released Asiribo’s corpse for burial without investigation. My relatives went to the station and after showing the DPO the video, the matter was transferred to the Area K Command. “At Present, Asiribo’s son has fled, while the DPO has been unable to identify the policemen who were present at the scene when my son  and his friend were killed.”

PUNCH Metro however learnt that through the video, some people had arrested one of the perpetrators. The suspect had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department,  Panti, Yaba.

The spokesperson for the state police command, Ngozi Braide, said, “The incident is quite pathetic. Even if they were armed robbers, no one has the right to take the life of another. Why then do we have the police and the judiciary? The Nigerian police as well as the law condemn mob action and jungle justice. The commissioner of police has set up a high- powered investigation body to investigate the matter.”

Newborn baby Jasleen only just entered the world- and she is already a record-breaker.

According to NY Daily News:

A baby born Friday in Germany is the country's largest-ever, at 13.47 pounds and 22.6 inches long. Baby girl Jasleen arrived July 26 at UniversityHospital in Leipzig.

Though babies of her size are often delivered via caesarean section, Jasleen's mother gave birth vaginally.

The mother had a previously undiagnosed case of gestational diabetes, doctors discovered. The condition usually develops around the 24th week of pregnancy and can lead to larger-than-average newborn size.

Both daughter and mother are doing well after the birth, though Jasleen remains in the neonatal care unit, doctors said, according to the German newspaper Der Spiegel. Jasleen takes the title of Germany's biggest baby from a 13-pound boy named Jihad, born in Berlin in 2011. In March, a British mother gave birth vaginally to a15 lb., 7 oz. baby boy named George. 

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the heaviest baby ever was born to Anna Bates of Canada in 1879. The 7'5" mother and her 7'11" husband welcomed a 23 lb. 12 oz. baby boy, but he died 11 hours later.

Kenyan Socialite, Pendo, Alleges She Had Sex With "Endowed" Davido; He Denies It!

A ‘Kenyan socialite’ is claiming she slept with the young Nigerian singer this past weekend while he was in the country for a performance at the Bombaata Festival which also featured Nigerian artiste Ice Prince, singer Victoria Kimani and some other Kenyan acts. Pendo says she met up with Davido hours before the show through HKN Gang’s Deekay. 
‘I made my way there, got to at long last meet Deekay, my long-time pal from HKN and through him; I made my way to skyluxx for the play house party where all of us stuck up in the VIP area. I knew I had won my jackpot so there was nothing to worry about. As a matter of fact, he (Davido) had spotted me too; we talked in a way only the two of us could understand’, Pendo narrates.

Pendo says she wasn’t worried if Davido was going to choose another girl to take back to his hotel room after the ‘after party’ so she didn’t even bother going for the show…
‘I had my fun and made my way home ready for the big day as I said I was not worried, so there’s was no time in me hustling to go to the backstage as other girls did…no! I had my food ready to eat, after the event, my friend Deekay (HKN) buzzed me and asked me to turn up that he (Davido) was asking for me.
I made my way to Galileo with my girlfriends, I minded my own business until he spotted me and asked his DJ to come get me, I still had no rush to be seen hanging out with him or anything, so I sat down n had my drink that he offered’, she continues her story.

Pendo says when it was time to leave the hangout spot, the organizers thought it best for them to leave in separate cars just to avoid the media.
‘So David paid for my cab that followed them directly to the hotel located in Hurlingham. When I got there, he sent his deejay (DJ Olu) to give me his key card to his room as he talked to someone. He escorted me to the room and the rest is self-explanatory’.

Now, Pendo is known for spinning stories to get mentioned on blogs and social network (she’s also been mentioning @Iam_Davido on Twitter) so everybody is finding this story hard to believe. But then again, she must be one damn good storyteller too!

The young lady has even gone on to describe her alleged sexual encounter with the young pop star, revealing Davido is one of the best she’s ever done it with, describing him as ‘Perfect’.
‘He was perfect. He is much better than your ‘average Kenyan’. He is big. Both length and width and best part is he really knows what he is working with. He has crazy moves; he kept it fresh for a couple hours. I am impressed. Definitely the best, ok maybe not the best I ever had, but he is up there’, Pendo told another Kenyan blog, the African Eagle.

She also praised him for not only being a ‘good lover’ but also a gentleman.
‘Not only did he not publicise the affair, but he left me with some personal mementos to remember him. I don’t think a one night stand does that. Plus there is still communication going on. I’m not saying we are dating, but we are definitely still talking. He did not ‘hit it and quit it’.

Pendo also says she didn’t bother taking pictures and definitely didn’t do it for the money…
‘I didn’t get money from him. I didn’t want money from him. I did it simply because I find him hot and he is pretty legit in the music industry in Africa. Yeah, I am attracted by his talent, his fame, his power, but honestly, who isn’t?’, she said.

Photo: Woman Sets Maid (11) Ablaze Over Piece Of Meat

A woman who allegedly set her 11-year-old house maid ablaze in Surulere area of Lagos, for stealing a piece of meat from her pot of soup was arrested by Police men at Bode Thomas division of Lagos State command yesterday. The maid identified as Ita Bassey-Eno who reportedly escaped death by the whiskers, is currently at the Burns and Trauma Centre of the Gbadaga General Hospital, with doctors battling to save her life.

Although her mistress, a staff nurse at an undisclosed hospital in Surulere, Mrs Nkese Iroakazi, reportedly denied the allegation at the police station, the ailing girl was said to have managed to state that she allegedly poured kerosene on her before striking a stick of matches to set her on fire. The incident, as gathered, occurred last Saturday at 7, Adeniran Ogunsanya Street, after  Ita rushed out of  the apartment with fire on her, apparently in an attempt to plunge into a gutter. Unfortunately,  she reportedly fell before she could get to  the gutter. One of the residents was said to have succeeded in putting out the fire with the aid of a fire extinguisher, before she was rushed to the hospital.

Eyewitness account
A resident who simply identified herself as Morakinyo told Vanguard: “I was just alighting from the bus when I saw people gathered in front of the building. When I got there, I saw Ita whom we all call Eno on the floor. Then, the flame had been put out. “Two men who attempted to carry her into a car could not because the skin at that time had peeled off. They had to get a slab, placed her on it and rushed her to the hospital. From what I gathered, the girl has spent barely one month in Lagos before the incident. “She was brought from her village in Akwa Ibom State last month alongside another girl called Happiness. Since then, we have not seen either of them going to school. “We heard that while Happiness was in the sitting room, there was a cry from Ita in the kitchen and before she (Happiness) knew what was happening, Ita rushed out of the kitchen and straight to the road shouting for help. “How could someone who has children of her own treat another’s  like this? It was even the residents that alerted policemen who came to pick Mrs Iroakazi.”

When Vanguard visited the hospital, Tuesday, a doctor who spoke on condition of anonymity  expressed fear about the  victim’s condition, revealing that she suffered  95 per cent  burns.“It will take a miracle for her to survive. In any case, we are trying all we can to ensure she gets  back on her feet. That will entail some surgeries because her private part was badly damaged. “Currently, she wears pampers and that area needs immediate surgery after the injuries would have healed.” Ita was sighted with bandage all over her body, except her face and feet. When a nurse approached her to administer the day’s treatment, she groaned in pains. As at 3 p.m yesterday, police sources told Vanguard that the suspect would be transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba  for further investigation.

"I Never Had A Girl Friend" – Covenant University’s Best Graduating Student

Michael Eromhonsele sacrificed romance for excellence and emerged the best graduating student of Covenant University in Ota, Ogun State at 20. He was the cynosure of all eyes at the eighth graduation ceremony of the Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State, on Friday. He was the best graduating student of the institution. To achieve this feat, he obtained a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.92, out of a possible 5.0, to beat 1,465 other undergraduates.

Factors that helped him to achieve that feat, 

he says, “First, I must acknowledge God’s favour and his assistance. 

Second, I did not entertain any form of distractions. I did not attend parties, and I did not have any girlfriend or what you may refer to as a lover. I concentrated on my studies.”

His study style? 

Eromhonsele reveals that apart from the serene environment in the school, which is conducive for learning, he loves to read late into the night.

According to him, he started reading from 10.00pm and he won’t stop until 1.00am.

“Those are the hours I found most convenient to read. As soon as I closed my book, I went to bed. I woke up at 7.00am, and got ready for my classes. Lectures start at 8.00am,” he adds.

Other Awards

Apart from being the best overall student, he was also the best in the College of Science and Technology where he studied Civil Engineering.

On His Parents

Eromhonsele, who is his parents’ second child, explains that they contributed in no small measure to whatever success he recorded in the university. He stresses that they constantly reminded him of his background and they advised him not to lose focus. 

“My parents were very supportive. They always reminded me of the home I’m from, and they also urged me to take my studies seriously,” he notes.

He explains that his mother, Charity Eromhonsele, is a business woman, while the father, Gabriel Eromhonsele, a civil engineer runs a consulting firm in Benin, Edo State. He says his father is a native of Igueben.

Education

Eromhonsele had his primary school at the University of Benin Staff School, while he attended both University of Benin Demonstration Secondary School and Greater Tomorrow Secondary School for his junior and senior secondary school education.

What next?

After obtaining a first degree, what next for Michael?  Beaming with smiles, he says, “I have already got admission to University of Surrey in the United kingdom to read Structural Engineering for my Master’s degree. I chose this particular course because I feel the need to improve on the structural aspects of construction works.”

On life after school

Eromhonsele is already missing his teachers and friends as he confesses, “Definitely, I miss my friends and the lecturers, most especially my course supervisors. But I am happy, it is for good.”

The eighth convocation event was not all about Michael alone. A total of 1,466 students graduated during the event tagged Release of Eagles 2013. The breakdown showed that 114 made first class, 720 made second class upper, 565 obtained second class lower division, while 67 were in the third class category...

Former Birmingham striker Christian 'Chucho' Benítez dies at 27

Christian Benitez, who played for Birmingham City in the Premier League, has tragically died after suffering a heart attack. The Ecuador striker died on Monday morning after suffering a cardiorespiratory arrest, less than a month after signing for Qatari club Al Jaish.

Benítez was admitted to hospital with severe stomach pain hours after making his debut against Qatar Sports Club in the Sheikh Jassem Cup but died shortly afterwards. He was 27.

I Was So Desperate for a child I made My Wife Sleep With My Father

Award-Winning US-Based Nigerian Music Producer Jailed 90 Years For Fathering Six Children With Own Daughters

He even claimed during a pre-trial hearing before the first trial that 'the world was going to end, and it was just going to be him and his offspring and that he was chosen.' In this latest trial, it was revealed that Mr. Ayinde began having intercourse with his second daughter from the time she eight-years-old, impregnating her four times.

The sexual assaults happened for almost 30 years until Mr. Ayinde and his wife separated, officials said. They occurred in numerous homes across northern New Jersey, even while the family was under watch of state child welfare officials, according to NBC New York. Some of the rapes even took place in an abandoned funeral home. The family moving as far away as Florida to avoid investigation after case workers removed multiple children from the Ayinde household in 2000, resulting in Mr. Ayinde being arrested for kidnapping for trying to take them from state custody in a medical center, NBC New York reported.

He pleaded guilty to lesser charges and received a year’s probation – as he continued raping one daughter for at least another two years, according to officials. The depraved father also beat and starved the girls using wooden boards and steel-toed boots for even ‘minor transgressions,’ Ayinde’s wife testified at the first trial. Some of the children Ayinde fathered with his daughters were born in the home, with at least two babies who died in the home having been buried without notifying authorities or obtaining birth certificates, NBC New York reported.

Mr. Ayinde also fathered 12 additional children with an additional three women, according to court records. Ayinde’s tortured daughters were home schooled and isolated from other children, so as to keep the family secrets hidden, the station added. With his wife too afraid to confront him, Mr. Ayinde carried out his evil plan without hindrance even while directing the music video for the Fugees 1996 breakout hit ‘Killing Me Softly, for which he won ‘Best R&B Video' at the 1996 MTV Music Video Awards. The Fugees are also originally from Northern New Jersey. Mr. Ayinde faces three more trials over the alleged assaults.

Hell was let loose at Umualianya kindred Umumpe, Umuevu Okirika-Nweke in Ahiazu Mbaise LGA of Imo State last Monday when a man, Mr Mathias Nwoko and his female Cousin, Angela Ihuoma Anyanwu, met their untimely death while making love to each other. Sources in the community told 247ureports.com that the late Mathias, 45, had returned home from his Onitsha base to attend the priestly ordination of his kinsman, Rev. Fr. Anayochukwu Onuoha, held at Mater Dei Cathedral, Umuahia, Abia State last Saturday June 20 2013.
It was learnt that all through the ordination ceremony, Mathias and the late Angela were literally tied to each other, with the latter taking the front seat of the former’s jeep. Their entanglement was said to have continued the next day, Sunday, during the ceremony marking the first Holy and Thanksgiving Mass at Holy Ghost Parish, Umuevu Okirika-Nweke. The deceased were also seen together at the ordination reception and later at the compound of the new priest where they were dancing to the music coming from Mathias’ car’s loudspeakers, while he occasionally was shooting gunshots from his pump action gun as Angela fed him with cartridges.

Interestingly, the deceased cousins were among family members who received prayers from the new priest, who earlier enjoined the people of the community to shun hypocrisy, atrocities and other iniquities if they must avoid God’s anger. The late Mathias who was said to have been married for 13 years without any child, however, returned home with a young girl as his fiancée who he left in the house.It was gathered that while the fiancée was home watching videos and waiting for Mathias, he only returned around 11pm and told her to go to sleep while he collected torchlight to see Angela off to her house. But that was not to be as the duo diverted to Mathias’ semi-completed building.

Worried by her daughter’s non arrival to the house, Angela’s mother called her phone line but Mathias was said to have answeredthe phone telling the woman that her daughter was with him. Also, alarmed by Mathias’ absence in the house up till Monday morning, his fiancée began to look for him within the house and was shocked to have stumbled on the naked but entangled bodies locked in death. She immediately alerted Mathias’ family members who could not believe their eyes. Also, Angela’s mother who was returning from Morning mass was simply speechless at the sight of the deceased.

The lady who was on top of the man had her blouse on but naked from the waist region while the man had his singlet on his neck. The two were dead.Their bodies were removed and deposited at Holy Rosary Hospital, Ogbor Nguru in Aboh Mbaise LGA. When contacted, the state police public relations officer (PPRO), Mrs Joy Elemoko, promised to call back to inform our reporter about the outcome of police investigation.

Woman, 93, Beaten, Raped To Death

A 19-year-old accused of beating and raping an elderly woman who later died will now face a murder charge, USA.
Prosecutors said Sergio Martinez-Perez beat and sexually assaulted 93-year-old Louise Sollowin in her home Sunday.
Sollowin died Wednesday. Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine on Thursday said Martinez-Perez will be charged with first-degree murder.
Autopsy results showed that Sollowin's cause of death was blunt force trauma.

Martinez-Perez, who already faces charges of first-degree sexual assault, first-degree assault and burglary, is set to appear before a judge Friday to be arraigned on the new charge.

Sollowin's family remembers her as a strong woman with many stories and talents.
“She loved her family and her family loved her,” said Teresa Hartzell, the victim’s granddaughter. “She was all about family.”
“She was a wonderful seamstress. We all got pajamas from her for Christmas, all the grandkids. She made her children’s clothes,” Hartzell said.

Doctors say they believe they can save the lives of the boys who were born in Jaipur, Rajasthan, on Wednesday.
Doctors in Jaipur, the capital and largest city of the Indian state of Rajasthan, say they are battling to save the twins.
Dr. S.D. Sharma, medical superintendent of J.K. Lone Hospital, said that such cases are very rare, especially in boys and are known as Dicephalic Parapagus.

He added that this is the first case in Rajasthan and second in India.
Most of the time, children that are Dicephalic Parapagus are born dead and, in the vast majority of cases, are girls. But doctors are hoping they can help the boy.

Nigeria Scales Up To 36th Position On Global GDP Ranking ...A 6.6 Percent Growth Rate, One Of The Fastest Obtainable Worldwide

The Federal Government yesterday said the nation had witnessed improvement in the global Gross Domestic Product ranking from number 44th in 2010 to 36th in 2012, recording a 6.6 per cent economic growth,one of the fastest growth rates obtainable anywhere in the world.




President Goodluck Jonathan, who was represented by Vice-President Namadi Sambo, said this while declaring open the 6th National Diaspora Day Conference organised by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in Abuja.

The conference had as its theme, ‘Diaspora Nigerians –Agents of investment and development.’
 “We have further reduced our fiscal deficit in the 2013 budget to 1.81 per cent of the GDP and significantly cut domestic borrowing,” Jonathan said.

He also applauded Nigerians in the Diaspora, who had responded positively to the call for greater involvement in the nation building process, adding that they should be very proud for their remittances and investments in Nigeria’s fast-growing stock market, real estate and other business ventures.

The President said, “We are creating an enabling environment to attract both foreign and local investors into the country. Nigerians in Diaspora must now respond positively to the invitation to come home and contribute to the development of this nation.

“As a concrete step towards achieving our objectives, this year’s Diaspora conference should be greatly focused and result-oriented. The success of countries such as India, China, Pakistan, Thailand and the Philippines, which have strategically engendered the Diaspora as a mechanism to accelerate national development, is an excellent model for us to understudy.

“The Indian experience, in particular, has shown that Diaspora communities are important sources of Foreign Direct Investment, trade linkages, knowledge and technology transfer.

Having lived abroad and embraced international best practices, Nigerians in Diaspora possess the requisite experience, expertise and contacts to contribute to all facets of our national life.''
